power windows
How do you test the motors for power windows with out tearing the whole truck apart

Get a wiring schematic. Determine which wire is the hot wire and which is the ground. Then, access the wires where the boot goes into the door or rear window. Push a pin through the insulation rather than strip wires and test the motor directly off the battery. If it doesn't work that way test the ground by bypassing the wire in the door directly to a good body ground. If it doesn't check out the problem most likely is in the switch or the wiring coming from the dash. If you hear the motor running but the window doesn't go up or down, the gears are bad and can be replaced.
