Re: how good is the s10
Cheap, yea, some of them are because they are rusted so bad.
But they still are great cars if the person got them rust checked and sprayed with anti rust oil every year. Since 1995, you really can't beat Japanese quality. |

Re: how good is the s10
any s-10 94 up with either engine is a great truck
i had a 94 s-10 ss with 4.3 vortec and it hauled ass now i have a 99 s-10 with 2.2 its bagged and shaved. i can smoke a 5.0 stang. after a little engine work and a 100hp shot of nos. you can find one cheap 2500.00 and up. then spend the rest of that 6 or 7 k to trick it out. there are thousands of aftermarket, and performance parts for the s-10. if u want to lift it i would go with the 4.3 due to the load of bigger tires and wind resistance. the 2.2 will wear out faster with all the added work of the lift. have fun ps my insurance is not that high. and i have a very bad record |

Re: how good is the s10
DUDE U need power to turn those tires for that lift. And a turbo will give u 31 mpg goin 75mph. And thats way GOod. and wat r u planning on haulin because the s-10 is not meant to be towinglarge loads. If u ride a dirt bike or something a s-10 is perfect. I still say turbo with a 4cyl

I plan on hauling major appliances washers, dryers etc.... how much does a turbo on a s-10 cost and do they offer turbo for the 6cyl engines if I had money I would rather turbo that

31mpg with a turbo 4cylinder? Wow, the bullshit is really flying around in this thread. Kenwood Guy, his information is not correct at all, please don't listen to him. I am serious about this. |

4.3 are probably one of teh most durable engines ive ever seen. They take a hella of a beating.

Re: how good is the s10
I go with a 94+ VorTec V-6. The 4.3 liter model if you're looking for a 4x4. Mine's all stock and putting out just a hair over 200 Hp and is slightly lifted. The paint's a little scuffed but the engine is good and the only problems I've had have been results of the rough use it got before I bought it. As far as making it move faster I'd imagine some performance parts and cold air intake would help... But two wheel drive and lower would make better speed... Less wind resistance and lighter. That said my truck gets 22-26 mpg or better after a oil change, air filter change, and running an octane booster through it and will get up and go.

Re: how good is the s10
hey blazerlt have you ever seen a 2.2 tricked out (cam, pistons, roller rockers, ported and polished, over size valves, header, venom injectors, venom fuel rail, holley fuel pump, complete digital ignition by jacobs electronics) plus more, i didnt think so? and yes it can roast a stang 5.0! you must not keep up with all the technology. ie imports runnind 8 sec quarter and faster. besides a 5.0 stang aint very fast
