Potenza RE950 or Dunlop A2?

Anyone had any experience with these two tires on the autox courses? I want to get one of the two for daily use, but also want better autox performance. And no I don't want azinis.

well i have the Dunlop sport A2 on my car and they are good tires....best thing about them...they are very predictable you can feel exactly how much they have till they give up traction.....

they are also very good all season tires.....of couse that make them less good for autox compared to max performance dry tires.....but you can actully steer during wet wether or snow.....

i don't know about the potenza's

How do you like the look of your A2's? I like that they are cheaper. The 950's had a cooler looking tread pattern, but who can tell anything from the Tirerack graphics.

anyway as an update on the A2's....don't use them for autox....they lose chunks of thread very fast

Re: Potenza RE950 or Dunlop A2?

I use goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's on my car (245/45/17) and they are by far the best tire I've ever tried.
a little pricey though. almost 180 apeice.

could you compare them with some of the tires you have tried in the past so we can get some reference points?

since the tires are the most important part of you car they cannot ever be too good so i'n constatly seaching for new tires

Re: Potenza RE950 or Dunlop A2?

I had nitto 555's when I bought the car, and they were crap. just dressed up drag radials basically.
2nd set was pirelli P zero.
they were OK but suckedin the rain and wore out too quickly.
The goodyears are the shit. they have deep unidirectional tread grooves for water, while handling better than any other tire I've tried in the dry.
so far I've had them for 15k miles and have seen about 20% wear with a rotation every 3k miles and I check the pressure whenever I fill up.
for $180 apeice I am gonna make damn sure they last.
the only other tires I was considering were the michelins but they cost more and had worse ratings. go figure. Tirerack has spec sheets for the goodyears and customer reviews also. I am deff. buying them again. also, price should go down as I got them literally 2 weeks after they hit the market.

i ve never had dunlops, but ive had bridgestone potenzas z rated tires on the crx that i used to have, and i thought if performed really good. i forgot all the company tires that ive ever had, but the bridgestones were the best, the best grip, and the predictabilaty or the feel of it was really good, i liked everything about it.

yea there are a lot, i dont even remember what the exact name was, i didnt even order them, my dad did, all i remember is reading the sidewall on the tire saying bridgestone potenza, and i believe the tire size was something like 195/50zr-15. i had this car when i was in highschool, and a little after i graduated, so it was at least 3 yrs ago.
