I have a 1993 with 289k.My husband has a 1998 that got to almost 300k before the tranny went. After he replaced that the engine went.He now has 353k with a rebuilt engine and tranny.I have a 1996 with only 47k and my newest is a 1997 with 48k.My 1993 still has original tranny and engine.

No wonder we love the Escorts. All of mine happen to be wagons.Too bad they are no longer manufactured.

i am thinking of buying a '95 ford escort lx. It has 150,000 miles and was in a fender bender, but everything was replaced and it has a little rust spot. What im asking is, the guy only wants 600 for it and to go along with this question is, are the Escorts good in snowy conditions(with the right tires) and does anyone else besides me think this is a good deal? Oh, it needs a new exhaust, but i was gonna replace it no matter what with some performance mods. thanx for any input

Re: How Many Miles On Your Escort??
My '93 was great in the snow.I actually drove it last year instead of my Subaru AWD.I also think that is a good price for an Escort in good shape.

Re: How Many Miles On Your Escort??
i got my escort for 900 bucks... was sitting for an estimated 6 mouths. 2000 dollars immediatly went into it sence it was probly never taken in for service with 258+ k km. great car in the snow and on the ice. Better then 86 Jeep Cherokee Lariodo (wich ment the fight of a rear collision) with 4x4. And now a good car that gets 70-80km to a gallon. though.. id watch the driver side rocker panel if i were you-water drains right down to it mine has basicly vanashed.
Oh.. forgot.. this one was in 2 front end, unreported, collisions by the pervious owner. (his body work didnt hide the damage so well) |

Re: How Many Miles On Your Escort??
No clue how much mileage was on it. Odo said ~37k. Engine's rebuilt now, with 193 miles on it. Runs like a champ. And to think, the car sat since '01. Did all work myself, so I put about 700 into the car, including new tires (200 bucks).

My '93 has 140k and I like it better than my 2003 sable. Drive the escort most days instead. I've replaced a few things, but it's never quit me, as long as it'll go I'll keep driving it. When it quits I'll rebuild it and go some more.
