Acura RSX or Honda Civic SI?
Hey guys I was just wondering what type of car would you choose the Acura RSX or Honda Civic SI? I am in a battle between choosing a Honda SI or RSX. Which car do you think is better for show, style, and performance? I personally like the Acura RSX, but would go with the performance package Acura is putting into the RSX. This is one of the main reasons I want to go get a RSX. Give me some of your opinions on which do you think is better.
Thanks, Gabriel.

By "performance package" Do you mean you are getting the RSX Type S? Because if so then the Type S is much faster then an Si. If you are talking about that lame dealer package on the base RSX all it is is a Type R replica Body Kit and Rims there is nothing "performance" about it. If I had to make the decision between the Base RSX and a new Si I would most liely go with the RSX

Well if you were chosing between an RSX-S and an SI i would go rsx. But if its just the base rsx i would go si, just because aftermarket parts would probably be easier to come by.

how about a 91 Civic SI with a b18c swap
would smoke both of those new cars and you'd still have about 15,000 to play with |

i think someone posted that the rsx had engine problems....i'd do some research on the rsx and check out any recalls it might have.....but i'm sure there's a comparison between the 2 somewhere

They are pretty much the same car, with the K20A3 being in both, and the macpherson front strut system very similar... it pretty much just gets down to which one you like better visually
Instead of the factory performance package, you should just get aftermarket parts |

I'm sorry, but you're an idiot, nick. One uses the K20A2, one uses the A3. The engines are cammed, timed, injected differently, if memory serves, making for a nearly 40 hp difference.

im pretty sure he is talking about the base RSX.... idiot
since comparing the RSX type S and the Civic Si would make no sense whatsoever... they are in different price ranges (where the base and the Si are in the same range) ... idiot |

K20A- JDM Honda Integra Type R 220HP K20A2- Acura RSX-Type S and Japanese and Euro Civic Type R--200HP K20A3-RSX base model and EP3 Civic Si these blocks are very similar, the only difference is the compression is higher on the K20A and K20A2 because i-VTEC is different. These 2 cars run Vtec on the exhaust and intake cams as the RSX base and Si just have the VTEC on the intake cam. Timing and fuel duties are carried out by the "i" in i-VTEC which is pretty much like having adjustable cam gears that self adjust themselves to give you the best torque curve the motor can give. So you see the intake cam is constantly adjusting itself from a dead stop all the way to redline. and of course all HP ratings stated above are from Honda and rated at the flywheel. The RSX Type-S stock is putting down the same numbers as my Si with my mods to the wheels. Last edited by CIVICBOOST; 08-20-2003 at 09:18 PM. |

I would take a si over a base rsx. The type-s is so much better than the the base one. But if u r debating between base rsx or si, go with the si because at least that is at the top of its class. Acura offers a "performance package" for the type-s which gives it type R springs and body kit for $4,000. What a rip off. i would recommend not buying any options at a dealer.
I'd take a 99-00 si over all 3 cars in question if it was me though. Same horsepower as new si and base rsx plus its faster. |

a 99-00 Si is not faster than the new one, I've raced a 00' with the same mods as me Intake, catback exhaust, header. I burnt him off the line because the new Si has way more low end torque and I'm on 17" wheels while the 00' was on factory 15" wheels. The old Si has a 1000 RPM higher redline but in a quarter mile race, torque is the name of the game and with the K-series theres a crap load compared to the B and D series Hondas.
