problem with mx6 please help

hi my friend has a mazda mx6 and shes having a problem with the car, car bucks and hesitates below 3thousand rpms, the guy who is working on her car says he thinks its the distributor modulator, its also thowing many codes , will the distributor modulator do this, ( she dont know the codes) I thought many codes usually ment that the computer for the car is bad, i dont know these cars, dont know what kind of computer systems these have, so any help will be greatly appricated, thank you very much

i beleive that this was common for these cars in 93 and 94
