Caliper rebuild / Installing the pistons

So, cruel world here i am..

Just another user destined for hours upon end tangling with the riddle of steel..ok, enough poetry for one day..

Any experts on caliper rebuilds out there...or in here?? I am just about to wrap up my two front brakes (well caliper is such a weird word)

I need a Pro Tip..and please only answer me if you have years of experience..

RED RUBBER GREASE - That is my question. I am very confused because i have seen many videos on YT where people demonstrate how to correctly reassemble them, but..

Hardly anyone uses this red rubber grease on the seals/gaskets. Why is that? Is it a lack of knowledge perhaps? Are people afraid? Yet again others smear it all over the place. Some use a special caliper grease and some use plain brake fluid. I`ve spent a lot of time rebuilding these and don`t want to make any last minute mistakes.

Thanks for any info clearing up this. Please only reply if you have the knowhow

Do not not use red grease. Use brake caliper lube.

Re: Caliper rebuild / Installing the pistons

The reason is when i bought the caliper seal kit, there was a small red rubber grease included with the kit leading me to believe i needed to grease the rubber seals inside there. Anyone care to explain why they include this if you`re not supposed to use it? Thanks.

Re: Caliper rebuild / Installing the pistons

Found this german $25 product sitting on a shelf today. Seems to fit the bill, here`s hoping it does..

Anyone happen to know what they mean by " Do Not Use Mineral Oils Or Lubricants" ??
