I use Testors buffing metalizers - steel.
In a pinch you can also use graphite (Pencil) over flat black

Humbrol's Metalcote polished steel gives shiny results very easily. Paint it with brush, wait 15-20 minutes and then just polish with cloth or q-tip.

use a pin vise and drill out the holes a bit deeper, i paint mine with testors silver and they look pretty good.
For brake lines and plumbing and such, use guitar string, or look through a fishing tackle box for leaders on a steel cable (fisherman should no what im talking about) |

Re: Best way to get a good looking brakedisc??
Has anyone ever built a model where the brakes were fully detailed with brake lines and whatnot? and are there any pictures?

Drill the holes out with a pin vice.
Use tamiya X32 and XF56 for a good shade followed by a wash in black.

Just want to share my 2 cents and a photo, how do u guys like it ?
a bit off focus but still viewable. blackwash is done by using thinned black and applying them on the disc, then wipe the excess clean, while one is not able to clean the black in the slot, the slot part will be painted, creating realism and some sense of "3d" viewing I cleaned the black on the surface only half on purpose to create an effect of weathering, as well as some brake dust build-ups. |
