help! adjusting valves on a 1970 454 ls6
can somone help me with this proceedure? any links or input is appreciated

help! adjusting valves on a 1970 454 ls6
can somone help me with this proceedure? any links or input is appreciated

Rotate the engine to TDC of the compression/firing stroke on the #1 cylinder. Mark the balancer in quadrants with chalk or tape or whatever else you like, then adjust the clearance to specs on both valves for the #1 cylinder. Turn the crank 90º, and do the same for #8. Turn the crank another 90º and do #4. Follow that procedure through the firing order and you'll be done.

Unless there is some really odd valve timing, that should work for setting both solid lifter lash, or for pre-lashing hydraulic lifters. Of course, you'll need to spin the push rods or use some other means to determine the zero lash point with hydraulics, but the concept is the same.
