I am an aircraft technician by trade and modern aircraft use a lot of different CF.

The glossiness of finished part really depends on the mold that was used. A glass like finish can be made if the mold also is glossy. The clear resin is added to the fabric once it is in place. The part is then sealed and the air is drawn out mechanically which ensures no trapped air is inside the component. I have seen the same polished look to a part without actually being polished.

For any exterior parts on bikes and race cars, I am assuming extra measures are taken to provide and perfect finish.

Although I would not rule out parts being polished.

Very nice WIP

Salut
This is why I always enjoy here in AF where different people actually share their experince and knowledge! This just make all of us learn and get sth more! (I don't smoke at all actually...LOL)

Re: Rossi in faith - M1 2005 Sepang

As promised, here are the update~
I have built the back(front?) of the dahsboard so I can have more wiring lying over. Of cox, the shape is not 100% replicated which TS kits does. But I do think this is good enough for me this time. I will probably be using the most of the TS kits and other addons next time.

Yeah!

Nice work on the back side of the dashboard I really like it! well done!

It seems easy for someone who never used CF but I'm sure this takes a looot of time and a looot of patience, as Joel said tired to imagine all that work you done, so I have to congratulate you for that work!

Keep that good progress!
Roca.

Ha~ That's true and I am really tired about all these CFs.... nomatter what cars or what bike I have been building recently, there are always places I have to do such tidious work! I have stopped the FW24 progress just as I am tired about the little CF around the chassis.... and the Impreza WRC I have also got myself into CF trouble..... And the pending RX-7 also has CF wings and front lips.... WT...f.....

But after all, I do think if we are to build some recent cars or bikes, applying CF has to be done anyway.... And I started to be afraid to start the 08M1 or even other bikes so quickly as I really want to take some rest for these CFing.......

I guess this is very true! People ddin't try to apply CF would really think it is easy. But hey, if one is to match the pattern all over these tiny parts, or the decal he use is not in good quality, even pros will get into trouble.....
I started to be lazy matching the pattern and just want to cover them up now... But anyway, when the cowling is put on, it is difficult to spot these lazyness~

A little preview here, after this I will be putting clear coat on them and move on the to front forks and wirings

The details on the wsing arms are almost ready now. And I have added "back: those hex screws around the chassis. I have prepared drills for them before I had it primed.

Re: Rossi in faith - M1 2005 Sepang

Here they comes the wiring updates

The front brakes are modified so I can utilize the metal parts again

The sensor at the rear suspension are in place.

A red little box is also recreated so the sensor has a wire to go to....

So as the front sensor too.... Some other wires are already setup around the front arms....

And here is a closer look on behind(or should I say in front of) the dashboard....Those little sockets are in fact 1mm plastic rods but I painted them like I did for TS kit and the wires covering just hide the fact perfectly .

I have skipped the silver sensor extending from the exhausts. But I have the curled wires immediately from the exhausts.

And then I have the handles painted and I shoudl be working on the wiring at the front tomorrow as a storm come the weekend and I shoudl be staying on the bench until the MOTOGP session.

Re: Rossi in faith - M1 2005 Sepang

Hi baldwinc,
I have only used the PE from TS kit on this kit. And the chain is from the box.
Some enamal wash and silver dry brushing will help to bring up the details on the chain.
