Thumbs up RX-7 Sightings

This probably isn't all that great for everyone else, but here in Iowa the mere sight of an RX-7 is like finding Jesus.

I saw a clean looking cranberry red S5 non-turbo FC3S on the highway on my way to Ames, IA a few weeks ago. Absolutely no way I could keep up with it, either. After about 70mph side by side, he just shot away from me...gained like 4 car lengths on me in a few seconds and dissappeared onto the offramp to Alden. Not like a stock MKIV Jetta GL with automatic transmission and 116hp has a chance in Hell against any generation RX-7, but at least I tried, right?

I also saw a bright red RX-7 FD3S in a grocery store parking lot and about crapped my pants. It was stock, but who cares? It was a freaking FD! My brother yelled at me to hurry it up and get in the car so he could get home (he just got off work from that grocery store), so I left before the driver appeared. Too bad.

My brother got to test drive a 1986 S4 FC3S about a month ago, but it was in really bad shape, and the gaskets in the taillights were shot so gas fumes were getting into the inside of the car. He said he almost passed out a few times driving it because of the fumes. The engine sounded great, and after my inspection, turned out to be in pretty nice shape, too. He still doesn't have the money for it. $1500 and it could be his...

Re: RX-7 Sightings

Sorry to dissappoint you guys, but I am not a great fan of the RX-7, just reading the articles...But yes, there are a few RX-7s in certain areas of Sydney.
