325is M3 Tranny Swap

Hey everyone. I am new to this forum. I decided I might try this one since bimmerforums.com isn't working right now. Alright, I own a 1993 325is whos stock tranny has recently given out. I was able to get my hands on a tranny out of a 1998 M3 that I was hoping I could swap into my 325is. In addition to the actual tranny unit itself, I have also acquired an M3 driveshaft and shifter assembly. I was wondering if anyone here could give me some insight as to whether this swap will work. First of all, I realize that the ratios on each tranny are different, but what what I hear, they aren't too different, similar even. Does anyone know if I would encounter any problems in this area? Also, I am just going to replace the stock clucth with a brand new stock clutch. I figure, I still have the engine from the 325is in there, so there shouldn't be any problems with the tranny being able to handle to power being passed onto it. Also, does anyone here know the exact ratios for my car and the 98 M3 model? I've searched all over the internet and can't seem to find anything. If there's anything I have missed or someone knows something that I should know, please fill me in. Thanks everyone.

The M3 uses the same engine block you have, the M3's cylinders are just bored out to larger size.

I think the M3 gearing will probably be lower to help with acceleration, I think.

This seems like a good mod, good luck
