Re: honda lovers. warning this may piss some people off lol
no such thing as a good 4 banger,in my eyes.I would rather have somthing made in america...and by the way, most internal parts that my ford uses, are mitsubitchy, just like every other company does these days.so in my eyes,if its assembled using metric bolts, and has mitsubitchy parts inside the motor and trans, then its clearly foreign. But thanks for telling me what my car is,cause i never knew it was a ford until you pointed that out.......duh

Re: honda lovers. warning this may piss some people off lol
why do you keep comparing v8's to i4's? i4's werent made for most power, they were made mainly for economy. if you knew about the metric thing, america was going to convert to metric as the standard also, but backed out because people complained it was going to be hard for older people to learn. i4's are fast in autocross, mountain racing(touge), and some gymkhanas. small engines tend to have better response then larger engines due to lighter parts. and sometimes a large motor is unnecessary, because more torque means more stress on the tires. i4's werent made to dominate drag racing. btw, your block is older then most import engines, but there are import engines that lasts as long as that; the toyota's. they have some ~20yr old sohc i4's that people are still building today.
yes there are people that will say a i4 is more powerful than a v8, but they just dont know batter. blame Fast and Furious. |

Re: honda lovers. warning this may piss some people off lol
I'm not starting a battle between 4bangers and 8guzzlers.. all have their good, and bad points. V-8's are heavy, guzzle gas, need larger cooling systems, and larger/stronger transmissions. most v-8 vehicles are RWD, or 4x4 vehicles meaning RWD suck in snow, and ice while 4x4's are decent in snow but no great quality on ice. 4 bangers are light, more compact cooling systems, take up less space, open up the higher rev range due to less rotational mass, and the need to get in the higher rev range for creating power. 4 bangers are in anything from FWD, RWD, 4x4 and AWD vehicles, which gives you an unlimited choice in cars, and small capable SUV's. overall I really do think 4 bangers have the larger brothers beat... do you see a v-8 rally car? nope... 2 litre limitations and hell do they perform! most pulling around 350BHP (they can do more but most rally's put limitations on power). yes v-8's have lower end torque... that's why i have a 2000 1 ton GMC duelly with a 2001 454 vortec big block, and Allison trannsmission. For the heavy hauling, and larger chores I cannot do with my car.. see? I am not a hater, but more of a practicality man.. for me a v-8 is'nt practical in a car... only in a workhorse truck... where you really need the power..

Re: honda lovers. warning this may piss some people off lol
FWD v-8= millions of cadillacs are FWD.northstar 32 valve v-8.Wich isnt exactly slow,or a gas guzzler.Cadillac has been putting FWD cars on the street, since the 70's.And if you think some little 2 litre rally is special, take the same car and put a v-8 in it,and it will walk all over anything else on the track, on a dirt race track,a 4 banger would look like a total fool...they call those minis, and are way slower on dirt than a 8 cylinder engine.mini v.s. a sprint or pro stock, dont even try to tell me the mini would win.Just like at a 1/4 mile track,a 4 cylinders trap time looks like nothing compared to a flowed out 8 cylinder.I love driving my T/A in the snow, and unlike a honda accord,i will survive a accident with an SUV.

Re: honda lovers. warning this may piss some people off lol
here is picture of my old car, wich got hit by a 4x4 suburban at 40mph.If i was in a honda,my passenger would have more than likely not survived.
A 4x4 with a 4 cylinder is a joke.I used to have a 1971 scout with a 345 v-8,that would chew up and spit out and new SUV,any way you look at it. |

I have the escort for trips out of state.I also have a soupercharged buick avenue that is a travelmobile too.I have 97 crown vic 4.6(pursiut) wich is my city sleeper, and my baby the 82 T/A Chevelle bastard car i put together just to put a smile on my face. Those are just the ones that run..i guarantee you my 70 chevelle 350 engine with forged flat pistons,400SBC heads, has *more* than twice the power.Mine was rated 375HP at under 4,000 rpm stock original.now ive put a cam(pushing it to 7krpm),and bigger heads on it..and many other things so thats how its twice your engine.

Okay, for those of you who havn't seen this rehashed a million times over- GET A LIFE. these engines, and every. single. different. engine. has both good and bad points over other engines. you can debate them as much as you want, but here, on the internet, it just comes down to a penis-measuring contest. No one can win, and it just wastes space.
Everyone else: read above.

What is the deal with this? Automobile racism? Take this import vs. domestic I4 vs V8 trash elsewhere. This topic has been beaten to death already, get over it.
