major thing is engine
LS B18B1 DOHC non VTEC 142 HP, I think like 128 ft/lbs GSR B18C1 DOHC VTEC 170 HP, torque i dont know off the topof my head. GSR revs higher as well.

Okay, so the GSR kills the LS, but what about in gas economy?

bout the same, but i imagine if you hossed it all day, the LS would get a bit better. and the GSR doesnt really kill the LS, well top speed probably, but through the quarter a GSR with I/H/E and a stage 3 clutch hits 14.83 and I saw a 16 flat off a LS with just intake, now with the same mods mid-high 15's probably so it is quite a bit fastr but not a TON faster

Okay. So a Vtec engine is better then? Sorry, I'm quite a n00b to this, trying to learn a bit. How much faster/better with fuel than say, an Ecotech 2.2L (Cavalier/Sunfire).

ok, well, you know how when you are following a car that is faster you can keep up cuz hes taking most of the resistance for you, well I have a hella slow civic hatch with a DOHC ZC that only ran a 16.6(poor condition engine) and a kid bought a sunfire with the 2.2 ecotech, it is auto though and mines a stick, but he was behind me when we were doing 40, I dropped to 2nd and stomped on on it, immediately he did the same(without the drop to second) and he was dead even behind me the whole way to like 80 or 90. if were were lined up side by side hed probably have taken me for a bit, 2.2 has gotta have more torque than me, but I think once I got to 2nd id be pulling and then passing him, so take a GSR with much more torque than me, and runs i think 1.1 seonds faster than me when its stock, it will whoop on those cars even the 5 speeds, plus GM engineering doesnt come close to hondas.
economy is probably better as well, but never owned/driven one so got no idea.

well, I know that the LS would be faster top speed technically cuz of gearing, but I race my friends GSR, im not in an LS, but it is sortof even then he hits vtec and pulls more through every gear and I just figured the vtec is gonna give the GSR more pull at the higher speeds, cuz the one I raced has a B16 so i figured the B18c would pull even harder on top because of that and the lower gears

if you dont wanna be laughed at and/or win races get the manual.
I am not sure ive seen an automatic gsr though they must make them though cuz there must be some older people that like power but not shifting(dont know why not tho)

Manual is that much more powerful??? I had no idea, I thought they were the same... Sorry guys I'm such a newbie, but I'm learning .
Looks like I'll have to learn standard too... PS: How is standard faster (you said I'd win more races)? Please try to explain in a kind of "talking to an idiot" type of lingo, so I understand. |
