'90 S15 Jimmy - O-ring replacement, oil filter lines
Have a 1990 S15 V6 4.3L. The O rings and gasket at the engine side of the oil filter lines need to be replaced.
From the oil fiter, 2 lines come down to a coupling to a large unit that houses the gasket and an O-ring. I want to replace the small O-rings on the two lines coming down and have to replace th gasket & large O-ring on the piece that couples to it. It is almost impossible to unbolt the coupling that bring in the two lines. I have not been able to get a box wrench, rachet, etc up there. Does anyone have any suggestions. I've been trying to access the unit form underneath. Thanks - it spews oil from that spot. |

Re: '90 S15 Jimmy - O-ring replacement, oil filter lines
Piece of cake. I have done 2 of these jobs so far. Two very long extensions on a short ratchet to get the bolt from the front snake it through slowly, very long winded bolt too. Then the two bolts from the bottom are easy. That darn thing seems to come out one way after unbolted so pay attention to it. Took me about 8 tries and alot of cussing to get it all back up inline together even on the second one. $4 dollars for the parts. Great deal if you ask me. Mechanics want $150-$200 for labor. LOL at them, do it yourself for $4. Good luck.

Must snake through from front over the front axle pumpkin. Very tight fit. Small cranks on ratchet.
