Re: clutch

RPS makes good clutches. One of theirs can handle 350tq and is only 15% heavier than stock.

Re: clutch

Because when my clutch isnt engaged, theres a lil rattling sound that comes from it but when u push the clutch in it goes away. I was told it was the throw out bearing and I did sum research on that and I found this http://www.10south.net/~mprobins/ecl...F-00105AA41E05
Does anyone elses 5speed GT do this?

Re: clutch

Actually the noise is prolly do to a bad install. I've heard many people offset the pressure plate by a few inchs and it made noise while ingauging. So if you did the install or someone else did it, take a alook at it again and you'll prolly fix the noise. The noise might also be the clutch breaking in.....350-500 miles is the normal time. I have a SPEC stage 3 clutch which I bought from www.jdsproformance.com for $349.00 w/free shipping!! It holds up to 415 ft/lb !!!

Re: clutch

Latest updates on my SPEC 3 clutch install:
Well my car has been at the Mitsu dealer for 1 week today. I have an extended, 60,000 mile warranty. First they told me they dropped the tranny (which labor wasn't covered under the warranty, so I had to pay $300) and they didn't find any metal shavings and thought the tranny was fine. Well they said they would install the clutch and see if it would fix the problem. The next day they called me and said my TOB was cracked out of the box that my brand new SPEC 3 clutch came out of. I was furious, and told him I wanted to see it. Just to fill you in...I opened the box to inspect the clutch to make sure everything was fine and didn't need to be returned before I gave it to the Mitsu dealer. I got there and this is what he gave me:
It’s kind of hard to see, but there is a crack right down the side of it...and its one you can't miss either!

So I told him there was no way I missed that crack before I gave it to him. It didn't even look like the TOB it came with!! This one is a silver color; the one it came with was bronze. Well they have my car at their mercy and I didn't want to punch him...right then. He said it would take 2-3 days to get another one to replace it. They cost $35-$45. I called the company I got it from and they told me I had to return the whole clutch to get a replacement. I decided it wasn't worth the time. I told them to go ahead and get another one. Well to my surprise it came in today and he told me it would be ready by 4:30pm. At 4:35pm he called me only to say they backed it out and the reverse was still fucked up.
He also told me the tranny was covered under the warranty and they are ordering a brand new one which will be in on Monday and it will be ready to go by Tuesday or Wednesday with a brand new tranny, and my SPEC 3 racing clutch, all for $550-$560 ($300-tranny drop, $250 clutch install). John said my turbo parts will arrive to him tomorrow and he is shipping them to me with my fuel pump, ignition harness, and injector clips. It will be here sometime next week for sure. I will then be totally ready for the turbo install next weekend.
