XBox 360 will also be out first, so it'll have more exposure to the market before PS3 even goes on sale.

Re: Racing Game Pre-Production: Need Your Advice, All!!!

Even though the X360 will be launching before the PS3, this isn't as if the title will be a simultaneous launch with it. By the time this title is completed, both consoles will be already rolling.

Keep in mind, our goal is put out the best game within this genre, and that means that we'll need the largest and best canvas to paint on that EVERYONE can view. Not just several people.

FYI: Forza Motorsport's sales wasn't a great example to go by; it just recently cracked about 700k worldwide. For a small--medium scale title, that's more than sufficient. However, for a large-scale, 1st party title, that's quite poor, considering the amount of money invested into it. There's a great difference with everyone CLAIMING that they support a game and those actually going out and buying the game; for which many xbox fans have a bad habit of doing, we've noticed.

Meanwhile, GT4, due to its audience factor, garnered 5+million worldwide.

See, there is a distinct reason why developers would invest in the Playstation platform, whether it launches 1st or not (which really doesn't make much of a difference, as both the industry and Sega knows full well by now). Having the PS3 as more powerful hardware and just as easy to work with only makes the decision that much more logical.

While I'm more than positive through everyone's support here, Project R will be bigger [game-wise] than Halo if it is destined for the 360, fact of the matter is, zealots won't support it the way they should simply because of the nature of the product and its orgin in comparison TO Halo. Which as everyone can remember, is the biggest and most important reason for the Xbox's existence in the first place, good or bad.
However, placing Project R on a more well recieved console gives us a better chance for the game to thrive and of course, more deserved exposure. While it may take some time to reach GT4 sales status, we can at least be rest assured that it'll do MUCH better than Forza did on the opposing platform.

Though keep in mind, if Sony does foul up and doesn't include a HDD (hard disk drive/ harddrive) plan out of the box somewhere within the PS3's launch, then be prepared for the Xbox 360 support anyhow.

I understand your arguement about Forza but realize that Forza is the first and only forza out while GT is in it's 4th insallment which gives it a headstart as far as loyalties go. And I do own Forza and still play it. Hell I played it today. I don't think it's fair to compare A first line title to a franchise that has been out for many reiterations of the same game console.

You're absolutely right. But take this into consideration: while Forza is a new title and all [namesake-wise], it's target platform was another reason why it didn't do so well.

Remember, when NFS: Underground hit, it was the first of its kind too, as was the 1st Midnight Club. Both games did better than Forza (more than 1.5-million sold in the U.S. on the 1st try) and were new to the scene as well. This was from both a big publisher and a relatively unknown publisher at the time (before they released GTA to the market).

It's not always a question of being new to the game, but where you're bringing it to.

But like I said, this is all a matter of whether or not the PS3 has a harddrive plan initially. Either way, the Unreal Engine 3 can fit, though we would have MUCH more freedom of expression and less headaches with Sony's new platform.

I understand that there are some xbox fans here, as well as some sony fans as well. However, the decision is based on the health of the title, i.e. how well it SHOULD do, where it can benefit the most from technologically and artistically and where it will have continuous support LITERALLY, not verbally.

Re: Racing Game Pre-Production: Need Your Advice, All!!!

Im gonna put in a car request,

The 2002 Cavalier Z24. There is a huge group of enthusiast who like myself would jump on any game that had this car. Up Untill now no game has really included a jbody car that you can actually have fun with. GT4 had a Sunfire GXP concept car, but it was really limited in its upgrades and fun. If you put a cavalier in the game i can almost guarantee you another 20,000 sales.

The only problem I see with the list, is that the '84 Merkur xr4ti should be in it's own category, as Merkur is it's own company, if anything under Ford. It's Euorpean Ford, maybe make a European Ford Category and have the Merkur xr4ti, Sierra's, Cossie's, and RS's in there.
