They say mine should do about mid 15s. 3.1 5 speed with k/n air filter, magnaflow exhaust 8mm wires and new plugs. Next is a new clutch, high flow cat, some sticky tires and a whole lot of right foot.

This winter i wanted to put a 3.8 s/c in my car. But was wondering if it would bolt up to my tranny. I think it will. It would be nice to have a 3.8 s/c with a 5 speed in a lil cavy. Just wondering about that.

You'll be more the high 15's right now. the 3.8 should works with your trans, I belive a couple of holes may have to be drilled and tapped but you will go through them a fair amount. The torque form the s/c motor will grenade that trans pretty easily. I know a guy that has a GTP but has a T-60 turbo instead of the Eaton blower and he has broken his 'cryotreated' trans 5 times since the snail went on!

yes they do. There are quite a few guys up here in Canada with 3800 s/c cars in their j-bodies. One is turbo'd and runs mids 12's and is street lagal. People have different tastes a GS-R is a nice car but we all want to sink $$ into or cavs and why not. Our aftermarket support may not be quite as vast as for the Honda products but why not.

Yeah i think its cool that you guys are workin on Cavs....its not any worse than a Civic...

There aren't very many mods for them as far as i know, that's why i was surprised that people supe them up. Hondas are fairly easy because the parts are sooooo common. Well guys i'll talk to you later....and maybe i'll see ya at the track sometime!!

i have 2 cavys, i have a 93 2.2 coupe high flow cat with stright pipes the rest of the way, and a custom made c.a.i maybe runs mid 17's (never track tested) and i have a 94 z24 turbo vert maybe runs mid to high 16's. just bought the vert its got the 3.1 v6 and the guy i bought it from says it came turbo stock but i havent checked to see if cavaler was ever offered turbocharged or not, its been though 4-5 owners i think so one of them coulda added it, im gonna sell though iv dumped to much money in my coupe to sell it and work on the vert. plus the vert needs a new top and i live in minnesota so i can only use a vert for 3-4 months out of the year.

Re: 1/4 mile times

there was a factory turbocharged jbody, but never a cavalier. It was also a 4 cylinder not a v6. The only turbocharged v6 made by GM during the years of the cavalier was the GN engine.

Re: 1/4 mile times

there where i think 200 or 2000 cant remember which one.. but in 94 cavs came with the turbo from factory. one of my dads friends had one since brand new and it came with that on it. if i can find the pics of it will post them.. but he sold the car a year or 2 ago. and i read from a couple different articles that some came with the 3.1 turbo. just rare as hell to find. and if u still have that cav with the turbo let me know.. just might end up buying it. always looking for a new toy to play with.

Re: 1/4 mile times

I'm still working on my '94 Z24 but here was a bit of info I found on the 3.1 V6's. It's the only reference I've seen to a turbocharged 3.1 in the second generation of the Jbody.

A special 3.1 L turbocharged version (designed by McLaren) was used in the 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix. It produced 205 hp (153 kW) and 225 ft·lbf (305 N·m).

LG5

The LG5 was a special 3.1 L turbocharged engine produced with McLaren for just two years, 1989 and 1990. It used simpler electronic fuel injection but cranked out 205 hp (153 kW) and 225 ft·lbf (305 N·m) of torque. These numbers churned out 0-60 mph times of 7.5 and made an impressive quarter mile run of 15.6 at 91 mph.
