Ignition Cylinder Replacement

My keys went missing and the GM computer has the wrong key# for my VIN so the replacement keys from the dealer don't work. Going to have to replace the ignition cylinder to get my 1992 TransSport back on the road.

Anyone done this? Any tips? Is there a good manual to refer to for a good exploded view to understand what I'm working on?

Thanks,
Ben

Re: Ignition Cylinder Replacement

Its not a super hard Job.. I have done a few of these on the GM's... Once you do one you can make it look like a cake walk..

You will want puller to yank the steering wheel, then you will need the Steering wheel lock plate removal tool, not sure if the parts stores rent those.. A set of picks or small flat blade screw drivers could come in handy..

You will have to be very careful about taking the parts inside the column apart as they need to go back in the exact same way they came out..

Wish I had a write up or a diagram for you..

YOu posted the same also in the APV and Silhouette forums...Please remove your posts in the APV and the SIlhouette forum (click EDIT then DELETE) as it is duplicated in the transport forum.
