Question 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L

I just got my new truck. It's a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 4.7L. I had a 1997 Chevy c1500 5.7L and I can tell a difference in acceleration. I don't know if it's the engine size that changes it but there is a difference. I was wondering what I could do to the engine that's easy and not expensive that would make it more powerful. Also, in the expensive side, if I could put an SRT8 engine in it or SRT10 or a hemi or something in place of the 4.7L that's not a hemi or anything. The reason why is that this truck is extremely nice in the visual aspect inside and out and it's in great condition. So please don't tell me to get another vehicle because this one is as nice as it gets. So what could I do to compensate for the "small" 4.7L engine?

Take care of your new truck.
If you want to go fast, check www.racingjunk.com for a V8 Vega. The one I had was the fastest thing I ever drove, then I put my 406 in it for even more speed..

Re: 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7L

I looked at your link and all I could find was cars for sale. I'm looking to do an engine swap and I'm wondering where I could buy a good engine. I'm not worried about price yet I'm just trying to find some engines. I'm more specifically looking for a 6.1L SRT V8 Hemi to drop in to replace my current pansy 4.7L V8 that's in my dodge. Where can I buy an engine like that?

How are you going to handle the multiple computer issues?

I've heard recently of a 6.1 SRT that needs rebuilding.

I haven't looked into this engine swap deal in depth but I just know that that's the engine I want and I am working for enough money to cover it and labor which I estimate at around $10,000 or maybe more.

Try swapping the transmission control module. It greatly improves the shift points and can save you big mpg. I swapped mine with a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee tcm and it made a world of difference! Got the tcm from a parts yard.
