96 kia alternator

i have rebuilt my altinator twice and replaced it i bought a new one and it still keeps blowing them what could b causeing this?makes a horibble screaming noise

you got other problems elsewhere in the system. no way for us to tell from here.

the current going into the altinator is fine have checked it with amp meter.changed battery terminals the pulley in the center of the altinator is getting hot.


how many wires go into the altinator?i got 2 someone told there should b another one.could it b the ground wire?

There is one large wire that has a metal eyelet which nuts onto the threaded post.

There is also a snap/gang plug that has two smaller wires on it which just plugs in.

A factory remanufactured alt should have had the pully rebuilt as well.

Possible Belt is too tight...?????

When people say to use a pry bar to tighten the belt they dont mean a six footer....lol

idn't tighten it with crowbar has a tension adjuster on it we tryed adjuestbelt it still screams at you and within the first 20 miles the altinator is toast.it doesn't scream if the altinator isn't there.we tryed to tighten it tighter and it snaped the belt. it's got the right amount of wires could it be one of those wires tht is bad causeing it? we know alot of people tht know alot about cars and no one can figure out why it's doing this

I dont think a fault in the wire would cause a problem in the pulley.
