1985 scirocco no spark

Hi, new to this forum but not to cars. I have access to a 1985 scirocco that i can have if i can get it running. the condition is: stopped running while traveling~30 mph. There is fuel, the timing belt is in the correct position and turning over fine. there is no spark. i replaced the ignition coil but still nothing. have checked continuity on most wires on the ignition system but have not found any grounding or breaks. any ideas on what else could cause this. if anybody has any ideas or more questions feel free to email, post or call my cell. (218) 940-4991.

Thanks
Reid
