After Market Steering Wheel
I just ripped out my whole dash board out of my car, not an easy task.. let me tell you. Anyways, my car has a driver side airbag, and I was thinking about installing an after market steering wheel. I know that I'm going to lose the airbag, cruise control, and my horns. The main question is, will my SRS light stay on because my air bag isn't installed??
Has anyone ever done this?? did they have to cut any wires or anything?? let me know 92Accord92 |

You have to disable it if you don't want to see that SRS light. You need a Helms/Haynes manual... or at least access to one of these.

Isn't it illegal to remove the airbag?

It is illegal, but how the hell are you going to get in trouble for it?? Unless the cop that stops you knows that an airbag is a standard feature that comes with the car. Chances are he won't, and chances are he won't even care.

the cop will be able to tell by the serial number on the dash board...either it will say AIRBAG above the vin number..or the cop is intelligent and paid attention in police man school, they teach you what vin numbers mean, and one of the numbers is for the type or restraint system...meaning airbag...chances are a cop will not bother you for it...but you never know..i've never been hassled, well not for that at least.

Is there any aftermarket wheel where you can keep your airbag. I was in an accident which I never even saw coming and that airbag seriously saved my face. If there isnt, I wouldnt even bother changing it. Ask anyone who was in a serious ass accident and theyll tell you why they praise the airbag. Now I love my airbag.
