99 Trooper blown tranny seal? Please Help!!

Trying to help my son with his 99 Trooper...his tranny apparently blew a front seal so he needs to replace it so he's in the process of lowering the tranny to replace the seal. Apparently, the tranny still shifts good. Anyway, he's having trouble getting to the torque converter bolts...apparently not enough room. Anyone out there have any secrets that might help him? He says he needs some special type of wrench to get into the small area!? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
