'00 Gauge w/needles off
Got in the '00 this morning, and none of the gauges with needles were working (tach, speedo, gas, coolant). The odometer is incrementing, the message center is working, and the blinkers/flashers work. Checked all the fuses in the block on the pax door jamb, nothing out. This happened in the past, yet a few ignition cycles fixed it.
Thoughts? Anyone?! |

Issue resolved. Total mind-bender.
Tried pulling fuses, thinking something needed a reboot. Pull, check, clean, and re-insert the "MALL/CLUSTER Instrument Cluster, BCM, Electronic Level Control (ELC) Sensor and Relay" and "IGN1 BCM, Electronic Brake Control Indicator Lamp Driver Module, Instrument Panel Cluster, Rear Side Door Actuator Control Module, Rear Windows", yet no change to the gauge needles. Still no needle movement. Next morning, dig into the owner's manual some more, and found a fuse labeled "CLUSTER BATT Module/Electronic Brake Control Module/Electronic Brake Traction Control module (EBCM/EBTCM)". Pull, check, clean, and re-insert, and now the gauge needles are moving again. Things that would happen, regarding this fuse. After inserting the fuse and energizing the circuit, you'll hear a stepper motor of some kind, which is presumbly something calibrating itself. Also, when the circuit is de-energized, the needles will stick in the location that they were at. So if this happens on power-up in the morning, all needles will get stuck in the bottom position. Yet if the circuit is de-energized with the needles off of base, they'll stay there (for instance, I pulled the fuse with the engine not running, with the engine cold, yet with 3/4 tank gas, and the needle stuck in the 3/4 position). So... you not only should look at the usage of the fuse, don't forget to look at the name of the fuse. |
