wont crank
I have a 1994 buick roadmaster, LT1 engine , it was starting fine but after shutting it off now it will not even crank, no power to small terminal on starter the backup lightswitch/trans position sensor is working correctly so the problem must be between there andt the starter. does anyone have any sugestions? Thank you.....

Re: wont crank
When you turn your key on, like you were going to start it, does the whole dashboard dim out, and or go out completely?
Something to look at. On the starter Selonied (sp?) there is the Red wire that runs basicly to the battery. Check that for frays/breaks; or spots were it could be grounding out. If not, turn the ign to the on on position, (I'm deffinetely not suggesting this, as serious shock or injury could occur!) Take a screw driver with a plastic handle (make sure its completely covered or agian, you could shock yourself), and try to manually jump thr ign, and see if it will start. Then fi ti does, you can start looking deeper. i know that you can do it, But agian, I am not recommending it only due to the fact that you can shock yourself into next week... Good luck, Bill |

Re: wont crank
Thanks but i already tried that, it does not start when you cross the terminals with the switch on either. it will start when you run a new hot to the solonide with the key on but the computer shuts it off, i checked the trans/backup switch also and it checks good so i'm thinking the computer is fried. Any way to check the computer without trying a different one ? I have the equepiment to scan the OBDI And OBDII while this is OBDI it shows no codes.. I also checked the wiring loom but no luck
Thanks Jim |
