Duramax - Oil Pressure Sender Location?

Recently, the oil pressure gauge on my 2015 DMax truck went to the pegged/max reading on startup, and has remained there. I am quite positive it is not the actual oil pressure. My thought is that the sending unit is bad, or possibly the wiring to it, or connector may have somehow come loose, been damaged, or developed a short or open in the circuit.

I really know very little about the 6.6 Duramax engine. I have replaced both thermostats in it, no other issues so far, at 130K miles.

Can someone tell me where the sender is located at on this engine? (LML version). I don't know where to begin looking, not seeing an obvious pressure sensor, but there are lots of places for it to hide on this engine.

Does anyone have any experience or advice they can share, with regard to this issue of a false, maxed-out oil pressure reading?

Thanks in advance!
-Jim.

Re: Duramax - Oil Pressure Sender Location?

To confirm the actual oil pressure, connect a direct reading mechanical gage to the oil pressure port. Location should be found on UTube.

Re: Duramax - Oil Pressure Sender Location?

Quick update.
Ordered replacement sender from Rock Auto.
Easy R&R. Location is above & forward of oil filter mounting base.
Electrical connector has a release tab that can be tricky, depending on installed direction you may not be able to see it from below. Small tab must be slid away from sensor to release the connector.
