For successful results follow these easy tips on:
Presentation
First impressions count. Have your vehicle clean and ready to show. A showing with short notice sometimes happens. Make sure your vehicle has had a good thorough cleaning at the start of your listing. After that only a few minutes should be needed to tidy it up for a showing. Local detail shops can assist you for a reasonable price.
Display
Often overlooked, displaying the vehicle in a spacious attractive area will help the prospective buyer concentrate on the task at hand. If you have more than the vehicle you are showing in your driveway. Pull the others onto the street or far enough away allowing the prospect to walk around, open the doors easily and view the entire vehicle with a glance.
Test Drive
Expect to offer a test drive. This is usually the single most important part of the presentation. Map out a route ahead of time so you are familiar with stops, traffic lights and directions. Ideally your route will be no more than 5 to 10 minutes and be a series of right handed turns. Before setting off, let your prospect know the route and have them set the mirrors, seat, pedals and review the instrumentation for safety. During the test drive reserve yourself to answering questions, your prospect will be processing loads of new information. Do ask after “how did it feel?” . Remember, the feel of driving a different vehicle than you are used to is usually uncomfortable and perceived negative at first. Reassure your prospect by pointing out the reasons it is a great vehicle to own. Test drives give the prospect a feeling ownership. Your chances of completing a sale without a test drive are slim.
PROTECT YOURSELF FROM FRAUD!
It is recommended that you deal with people you can meet face-to-face. Do not accept wire funds via Western Union, Moneygram or any other wire service. Fake cashier checks and money orders are common. Banks will cash them and hold you responsible. Never give out any personal financial information.
