Wrangler tires

I tried to buy a set of 31X10.50X15 inch tires for my 2000 Wrangler at Costco here in Phoenix today and the man told me that he could not sell this size tire to me because the size was not shown in his computer as suitable for this vehicle.

Is this a Costco policy thing?

You cant put a set of 31' tires on a jeep unless you have a lift.

I went to a different Costco and they installed the same 31 inch tires without any problem. I've used them for almost a year now with no problem at all. I did have to adjust the steering stops to prevent rubbing in tight turns. Off road they are great.

my buddy has a 02 tj and he got his 33x12.5x15 on it with out a lift at all and he has minor rubs only when he his a big bump. 31 wouldn't be a problem. just a little rub on the control arms. nothing big.

Re: Wrangler tires

I'm told that if you get aftermarket rims the 31" tires will fit fine. Also, some stores like PEP Boys will not sell you a tire for a vehicle that is not listed as the stock size. I've had runins with them in the past over that. I tried to replace tires with the existing size and they refused to sell them because the manufacturer didn't list them as stock

Re: Wrangler tires

31s will fit on a stock Jeep with mild rubbing on sharp turns, however, this can be stopped by adding washers to the steering stops. If they did not want to install the tires then go somewhere else and spend your money. They will wish they had taken your money when they go out of business.
