Question 2000 s-10 gear indicator light does not light up-bulb good

2000 S-10 gear indicator light does not work except when switch is in accessory position. When in run or start position there is no light. Light worked until I replaced the brake light switch. What could I have done to cause this.

Usually caused by indicator light bad connection in cluster.
But check for wiring damage also.
