Re: speaker size?

6.5-6.75"

2" depth in the front with room for a .75" single layer spacer or a 1" double layer spacer (1st layer with flanges, 2nd layer just a ring), so 2.75" or 3" depth respectively with spacers. The rear has ~2.5" before you hit the torsion bars, only way around that is by replacing the torsion bars with struts since there's no room between the deck and deck lid for spacers.

Re: speaker size?

thanks for the responses but in the end, my main question is would the alpine type R or type S speakers fit in either spots? and if not what are some nice speakers that are around the same quality that would fit?

I just told you everything you need to figure this out yourself

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-sJMwt03...Display=Alpine

6.5" diameter
2.75" depth

You'll need to make spacers to get them to fit in the front, and they'll probably smack the torsion bars if you try to put them in the rear (not like components are a very good choice for the rear anyway).
