Removing Shock Stud Nut - How To

After I torqued off the stud nut on one of my shocks, I figured I'd better learn how to remove the nut on the other shock. What's the trick? If the nuts haven't been removed since 2001, chances are they are pretty rusty. I'd hate to torque off another stud nut and have to resort to installing a new shock stud.

Unless you are installing new shocks I wouldn't remove them. I use a small side angle grinder and grind the nut off on the side. I've used a cutting torch but the rubbers catch on fire and you need a water hose or fire extinguisher near by. If they aren't to badly rusted I use channel locks to hold the shaft a deep 1/2 inch impact socket and air impact.
Any of these items will damage the shock.
