Bid on Paul Walker's Supra from 'The Fast and the Furious'

Mecum Auctions to offer 1993 Toyota Supra used in epic race scene from first film

In just a few days, fans of the "Fast & Furious" franchise will have the opportunity to buy one of the most legendary cars from the series: the 1993 Toyota Supra driven by Paul Walker's character Brian O'Conner. Even those who don't count themselves fans will likely remember the drag race between the Supra driven by Walker's character and the black Dodge Charger driven by Vin Diesel's character Dom Toretto, with the two cars racing toward a railroad crossing in an attempt to beat an oncoming train.

At its Indianapolis sale, Mecum Auctions will offer one of the Supras used in the film -- a running example that can still be driven.
Like most movie cars, multiple examples of this Supra were used for various shots. It features a reinforced suspension optimized for stunt driving and is powered by a fairly stock 2JZ-GE 3.0-liter engine producing 220 hp connected to a five-speed manual transmission. There are a couple of Holley Performance nitrous-oxide bottles mounted in the trunk, but they're props and are not connected to the engine. Other modifications include a body kit by Bomex, a full roll cage, a Jaz Products fuel cell, competition seats, Dazz alloy wheels wearing Yokohama tires, a rear wing by APR and body graphics by Modern Image. Overall, the car is in the same condition as it was used in the film, and it has made a number of publicity appearances over the years.

This particular Supra was built by Eddie Paul at The Shark Shop, a facility known for creating film and TV series cars, in El Segundo, Calif. This Supra is the car that was reportedly used in the final race scene, in addition to appearing in other parts of the film -- "Fast & Furious" die-hards may know how to tell apart the various Supras used.

Mecum Auctions estimates this Supra to bring between $150,000 and $200,000 on auction day, but we wouldn't be surprised if the car sails past this range with barely a pause. "The Fast and the Furious" came out in 2001, and 14 years later some of the kids who grew up with the franchise no doubt have the financial means to buy their hero's car.
Visit the Mecum Auctions website to view the complete list of lots from their upcoming Indianapolis sale.
