BUYING A WRECKED MAZDA MIATA Yes or No?
I found a 1999 Mazda Miata that (after I ran a CARFAX) Has been wrecked severly, which now has a salvaged title issued. It has NO airbags.
I have driven it, and it handles great, looks great. I had several guys look at it, and the engine appears to have no leaks. The dealor said the new engine has 18,000 miles on it. I can get it for $4,200.00 out the door. Is this a good purchase, or should I run the other way? Also, if I ever wanted to re-sell it, what should I expect to get out of it? Thanks for your time Christine |

Re: BUYING A WRECKED MAZDA MIATA Yes or No?
if people have looked at it, and it seems ok, why not? the leaks in the engine aren't necessarily the potential problems though. find out where the damage was and inspect it or have those areas inspected. i bout a del sol in a similar situation and didn't realize how bad the damage was until i had already bought it. look for things that don't close right, i.e. doors, turnk lid, hood. also, check the wear on the tires, if it looks uneven on any of the tires, then it has damage that was never properly repaired. the resale would be about the same, depending on how many miles you put on it, etc. good luck!
