Buying an 04 TDI, any thoughts?
I have been looking at a TDI (with 5 speed) for some time now and I have decided to take the leap into a new car. I was wondering what the general consensus from other owners was. Everyone that I have talked to that owns a TDI loves it. Thanks

Thanks, although I've been reading these forums and I am starting to wonder if I may be getting into one of the "bad deals" that many others are in. Although I would think that with the new series V that most of the bugs would be worked out.

Re: Buying an 04 TDI, any thoughts?
I think it's more of an issue with VW's suppliers not making parts up to high enough quality standards. I doubt the MKV series will have any less problems than the current MKIV.

i think the new mkV will actually have more problems since its base motor is totally new. the mkIV has most, if not all, of its problems worked out now. tdi is a much more... intelligent choice. we'll never be able to save as much as you will on gas and you'll get amazing torque.

Re: Buying an 04 TDI, any thoughts?
As far as reading a specific forum and getting hesitant, Any specific car forum you read will have the majority of posts with owners and problems. Most people don't take the time to post that they are happy and no problems.
