Re: flame thrower exaust on turbo cars?

Well you can take off your exhaust and run open downpipe...that will get you some flames, or you can generate tons of power and that will get you flames, or you can put on a propane tank kit that basically shoots extra gas into your exhaust and then gets ignited by a spark plug or something. It's basically what they used in F&F. I think there was a question regarding it in the street racing forum a while back. Personally a flame every once in awhile is cool, but I wouldn't really want fire back by my 20 gallons of gas. Not to mention, most of the kits have some kind of thing that the engine stops firing for a second to allow more gas to go through the engine unburnt(I think) regardless it affects your engine, maybe there are others that don't. but that is what I heard and seem to remember.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

A flamethrower kit is dangerous for any car. Have fun blowing up your gas tank.

I couldn't think of many more dangerous things to want to put on a car.

My car throws flames with my new exhaust. Thus why I can't drive it all the time . I've got turbo back exhaust, no kitties. 1 pipe from each turbo. I've heard it shoots out about a foot sometimes, trying to figure out how to get rid of it actually so I can drive her around without a cop stopping me.

Re: flame thrower exaust on turbo cars?

Cars that shoot flames from their exhaust without a flamethrower kit are suffering from running too rich; there is still unburnt fuel in the exhaust pipes and they combust there. It's not a healthy car

Yeah, I know it's runnin a little rich cuz I'm running an open atmosphere BOV. I haven't got an AFC to lean it out yet, but it's not to the point of being a major problem. I've datalogged it and everything. Just that there's nothing in the way between the turbo's and the muffler so it seems a lot worse than it is.
