any ford dealership employees?
are there any ford dealership employees in here? i was wondring what kind of track record teh 96 taurus has. also my service engine light will sometime come on and off in about 1 sec intervals and while it is doign this teh car is shuddering and is much slower (mabey it is misfiring?) than normal whenever it does this im always in drive so i click to neutral and it stops doing it it seems only to do it when there is a load on the motor. car has 126k on it. thanks in advance

I am a ford dealership employee. the '96 taurus is a good overall car.
I believe they had some problems with the cooling system, and there was a TSB for a water pump replacement to fix it. (coolant always rust colored caused by water pump corrosion). about your check engine light, you should take it down to your nearest dealer to check for trouble codes. it could be a multitude of problems. I work at a dealership, and also a mechanic. And they did have a overall track record. Cooling was a problem, but easly fixed!
