Only some models had AHK (active rear suspension) as standard. On others it was an option.
I have an article on it if you want to know more. Let me know I'll email it to you. PhilC

AHK (Aktive Hinterachs-Kinematik or Active Rear-Axle Kinematics) is a hydraulic rear wheel steering system and was standard on ALL Euro CSi but yes, it was also an option for other export zones (like everything on the 8's). Actually, the steering gives the CSi very fast lane changing (equal to a Porsche 911 Turbo of the time) - not bad for a car weighing nearly two tons! I was in Italy during the summer and even on some of the twisty roads, the CSi handled like a dream. Mind you, I have the Hamann suspension kit which puts my CSi lower and stiffer than a standard CSi, which is already lower than a standard 8, so that helped. If anyone wants a movie of AHK in action on a stationary CSi, let me know (this was acheived using a diog computer). |
