Hi all - sorry to revive such an old thread, but I just found this site and joined up...

Yes, the new '06 Monte SS is bad ass - I have one! it finally came in 2 weeks ago. The thing MOVES man! it's not happy putting around at 40, she just wants to go

it's a 5.3L V8, 303 HP, 0-60 in 5.5 sec. it has electronic traction control, but if you turn that off via the switch, it SMOKES the tires!

but at $250 a piece for the Goodyear Eagle RS-A 235/50R18's, I won't be doing THAT!

Here's some pics...

no, it's a 4-speed heavy-duty automatic.... stick isn't even an option on them...

Re: Monte SS or Neon SRT-4??

i hate how GM does that. are they incapable of making a fast FWD car thats a stick. anyhow you should take it to the track and see what you run. i'm guessing low 14's high 13's.

The 2006 Monte Carlo SS doesn't a Cadillac Northstar DOHC V-8. It has an OHV 5.3 liter V-8 with 303 hp.

The new Chevy Cobalt SS is available with a manual transmission.

As for rwd...

Nice car, but the new styling? Is there styling? It looks like gm just copied honda and toyota. I liked the last gen monte's looks better, but you gotta love the 5.3 v8. I know what it's like in a 5100 lb trailblazer, so i'm sure it's sweet in a 3650 lb car, even though it's fwd.
