Monte SS or Neon SRT-4??
Ok I currently own a 02 Monte Carlo SS and I like it very much. Was checkn out the new neon SRT-4 and they look pretty badass. A friend claims that the Neon can whoop a Mustang GT as well. Well Im thinking of trading in the SS for the SRT-4 and just wanted to see what you guys thought? Would it be worth it?

Re: Monte SS or Neon SRT-4??
The neon's are quick....with the right driver of course. And I've always been partial to turbo cars...especially Chryslers. I'd go with the Neon. I have a N/A 3800 W-body as well (99 GT), and there's not a whole lot of potential there.

Re: Monte SS or Neon SRT-4??
Bass,
Kinda depends on what you are looking for. I currently have a 01 Monte SS and an 03 SRT-4. The Monte has more creature comforts and a higher safety rating and runs on 87 octane gas. The SRT, however, is quick as hell, will beat a GT Mustang and only runs 93+ Octane gas with a 12.5 Gal tank. PM me if you have any other questions |

Been thinking of the same thing
I too am looking at a new car. I need to replace my turbo Daytona. Naturally, I went looking at Dodge but I am not really keen on people knowing I own a Neon, even if it is pretty quick.
I am leaning towards the supercharged Monte SS. With a few mods it should be decently quick on the street.

Re: Monte SS or Neon SRT-4??
True, but the good thing is that it does not say "Neon" anywhere on the car. When we bought the Monte SS, I was kinda disappointed that they did to offer something with a little more power at the time. 200HP/200TQ does get you moving quick, but it really needed a little more umph under the hood. If you have a chance to test drive the Supercharged SS, let me know how it performs.

Better get one before the end of next year. Rumor has it that Dodge will be stopping production on the SRT after the 05 model and completely redesigning the Neon for the new 2006 models. |

Call me oldschool, but I like the look of the older model Montes....from 71 to about 88 or 89....the new ones just don't look like a sportscar anymore....I'd take the neon

You've gotta good point...the only thing about a ss or the neon is: there's always somebody thats willing to buy a cheap rice burner like a neon, but not very many people would want to spend the money to buy a monte ss so if you didnt like it, it'd be hard to get rid of. but you're very right...lol everytime i see a guy drivin down the street in a 96 neon with spinner rims and a big wing and all "Pimped out" and the thing still won't go over 90 mph the one thing i think is "what a goober!!!"( i use nice words for the forum)

Re: Monte SS or Neon SRT-4??
Well trading in your car for the 2004 or the neon might be a bad idea. If you have already invested in upgrades for your 02 monte you are better off +
eping it. The supercharged 04 montes are a big disappointment. For starters they are about 200 pounds heavier, and do not offer enough power. The SC 04 montes come stock at 240 hp.Only 40 more HP then your 02.Youcan add a stage 1super charger to your exsisting monte and gain 60 hp just from that .If you went with the stage 4 you get about 390 hp at the wheels with the L36. If you went a step further by changing your motor to the L67, you would be well over 500 hp with a stage 4 super charger. I have not added a supercharger yet to my 01 monte, but I already have over 250 hp. |

I like both GM and Chrysler. Personally I would take the SS over the SRT-4, even though the Dodge would KILL it. Those things run around 14.0 in the quarter mile.. its a neon on steroids! If you are going to buy one of these cars, why not go for the new Grand Prix GTP though? Call me partial to pontiac because I own a Grand Am, but the GTP's are puttin out 20 more horses than the Monte Supercharged.

Chevy is starting to look sad with there high end cars, I really wish they'd bring the V8 back to the Monte Carlo.
