02 Altima Head Gasket Blown

Purhcased 02 Altima new in summer of 02. Has 52K miles. Car for a few days felt like it was going to stall but never did. Check engine soon light stayed on. Was losing some water over last few weeks. Dealership indicates Head gasket has blown. They will replace under warranty.

Has this happened to anyone? Should I be concerned of the pistons, rings, engine block, water pump being cracked. Should I demand the dealership to give me a new engine? Thanks.

Re: 02 Altima Head Gasket Blown

As a Nissan Tech for 15 years, It's not a comon thing for headgaskets to go on any Nissan really. You do want to make sure there are no recalls on your vech also. If it's an 02 there are a few . Other than that it's nothing to be worryed about , just be thankfull it happend within warrenty
