Installation of short shifter
hey I bought a short shifter froma member awhile and I wasn't very sure on the installation...it didn't have any rubber or anything and so I just went to Lowes and bought some rubber washers and put on it. Although now it seems like it's hard to get into gear and so I'm trying to work it out. Here's a pic of the shifter I have.
Let me know if the rubber washers were necessary or not thanks Brian

Re: Installation of short shifter
There should have been a rod that goes through that hole, and a polyurethane bushing for each side of it.

Re: Installation of short shifter
supposedly installing a short shifter is like the step after installing an intake... but then again it took me an hour to install my intake so im not sure how to install a short shifter. All i know is it is a 2 man operation. Need to take apart dash around the shifter and unscrew the bolt(s)? connected to the shifter. But i dunno...

Re: Installation of short shifter
yes the busings on each side are required, make sure u tighten em down good, but not to hard, because it'll be really hard to shift if you do... (that's what i did) with the kit that i bought i had to mess around with the heat shield a bit, but it wasn't really a big deal.... you'll want to keep all your stock pieces handy incase the kit didn't include something that you'd need... if you've got any questions i'll be happy to answer em
i did the kit on a 93 integra rs

Re: Installation of short shifter
well once again...you were right...I e-mailed the person selling it and asked and they said it came with bushings so i just ordered one from them. Oh well only 20.00 and besides I've already got the shifter installed I just need to put bushings on the side. Thanks everyone.
BTW Delerious I think you are supposed to tighten everything on this installation to 16lbs. This too I have to fix. Sometimes I'm just too strong for my own good. hehe lol
