New to the forum...again

I've been reading a lot of the posts and i find it very helpful. However, I have several questions that I have for anyone outthere.

1st The interior light stays on when the doors are closed, on both sides of the switch.

2nd The bell rings when the keys are in the ignition, even if the doors are closed. Is this normal? I.E. Trying to listen to the radio with the car off but the bell chimes because the keys are in the acc position.

3rd I tried to get the car registered in TN by having the emissions test completed but it only read a 2.5 on the CO2 test. The computer wont prompt test unless the co2 is a 4.0 or higher.

I appreciate any help anyone can give me on the above.
Thanks

Re: New to the forum...again

Welcome, you need to tell what year metro you have?

1 and 2 are more than likely your door jamb switches. There tends to be a build up of rust around the switch and you loose your ground. The car thinks the doors are open even though they are closed.

I would remove both switches (1 per side) and file the rust a little, you may need to replace the switch with one from a junk yard.

Here is an article for the newer metros but it will apply to the olders ones too.

Sorry guys, I forgot. It's a 1992 hatchback, three door. And I love it!

Re: New to the forum...again

Does anyone have an idea as to why the CO2 is so low? I thought that was a good thing but apparently the computer won't even prompt a test unless it's at a 4.0.
I would appreciate any help on this one.
