Replacing Valve Stems
Has anyone ever replaced the valve stems? If so how long did it take and what was your chosen method to remove the tire to be able to get at the stem?

Re: Replacing Valve Stems
How do you reset the bead so that the tire is able to hold air again?

Re: Replacing Valve Stems
Scrapper~ Thanks for the help. Got the old stem out and the new one back in, in around 15-20 minutes. And I ended up saving about $15. Called around earlier today to find out what is would cost to have it done. Most places quoted me $20. So the parts cost about $2.75 and the remaining was spent on a victory drink for completing the job in the rain.

Re: Replacing Valve Stems
Got it all aired up and got to listen to that pop when the bead seats itself again. It was a little more work because I only had access to a bike pump, but it worked.
For future reference if I'm unable to get it to go right what are your tips and tricks? |

Re: Replacing Valve Stems
If you have trouble getting the bead to seat you can take a small ratchet strap and wrap it around the circumference of the tire. Then tighten it up a little and add some air. When the bead starts sealing you then release the wratcet strap before you get too much air in it.
