Old Master "GMpartsdirect"
I hope this isn't too far out of topic for the blazer chat forum, but I am in the process of rebuilding my 1998 Camaro with a 3.8 v6. And there isn't much in the Camaro chat Forum. Spun a rod, so crank was damaged as well as number five connecting rod. I had the crank turned to 10/10, checked it with my micrometers and it was great. Problem is when I oredered the connecting rods from GMpartsdirect they sent me rods that where in one piece, so when I pulled them apart they where jagged and not flush as the original ones where. I emailed them and they told me to send them back,so I sent them back. It's been 10 days and I haven't heard from them. I really need to get my car up and running really bad, so I went to a local GM dealer and ordered the rods from them, Well I got the same thing, I called them and they said they would replace them with no problem, got the replacemnets and the same thing. I call them back and told them they ordered the same thing, now they are telling me that they are break a way rods and that's the way they should be. I don't beleive that for a minute. I've rebuilt engines for 25 years and have never seen that before. Has any one had this kind of problem with any parts for a engine rebuild. I would appreciate any suggestions and any help on this matter.
Thanks, SC. P.S. Old Master what is your input on this? |

SC,
Not really my area of expertise... might want to check with GM Merlin, MT2500 or Bluebowtie on this one.
