Question '95 240sx, good first time engine upgrade?

I recently bought a used s14 (w/80k + lotsa options for $5700). I want to start out with a new intake kit, so what do you guys suggest? Im on a budget so Im looking for best "bang for the buck".

Im thinkin a Weapon-R cold air intake with ram air kit ($325). Weapon-r says thats good for a 25-30% increase in power...

Dont go Weapon R...get the Injen Intake w/Cold Air Extension piece...the Intake is 189 plus the extension (unfortunately sold separately) is 99 at www.enjukuracing.com You should also look here and see what you find or shop around for a better price...this is just to give you an idea of the amount you'll save and the fact that the whole system gives you 15rwhp (so says Injen)

www.240sx.org (classifieds)
www.freshalloy.com (classifieds)
www.thepartstrader.com (under Nissan other)
www.eBaymotors.com (under parts and accesories and then search for 240SX)

Just word of note...dont buy from Injen direct since their prices are considerably higher.

Have fun.

I agree, go with Injen. I saw a dyno with a 240 with only the Injen intake before, I'll try and find it again.

I'm looking for an 89-93 S13 240 but they are all either to expensive for me right now, or they have a million miles on them.
The only one that I have called on and am planning to go check out right now is a 91 240 SX w/ 136k miles, 5 speed, new clutch, new paint, new tires and the guy is asking 2800 obo. I have no idea what shape the body is in. If it looks nice then I'll most likely make him an offer on it

Yeah I want a 91-93 240 SX. I don't want a 94 because it only came in an automatic convertable that year and I hate convertables. Plus one day I'd like to maybe have an SR swap done and it's easier to get the swap done if you start with the KA24DE instead of the KA24E. Things like the power steering lines will need to be gotten from the KA24DE so if you already have it then it's just easier. Also if you want to keep aire conditioning, then you will either need the SR air compressor or the air compressor from the KA24DE.

No way, the injen cold air goes for about $230, and the extension for 120. Were can you find it for 189? By the way, what is the purpose of teh extension? Why get it?

Gotta shop around
It is truly the way you gotta go...shop and do your research for at least a good solid week...search online, through catalogs, local speed shops and other forum memebers, owners of the products, mechanics, and anyone else who might have some knowledge about who has the best and what's the best price to buy it at...

It's all there...and the wonderful world wide web.

does that intake really do add 15 horses at the wheels? i find that kind of hard to believe, cuase unless i see some dyno figures or any site with that number claimed i would definitly run out to buy it after my S14 comes back from the shop this friday.
