A small update. The body is ready for priming. All the transkit parts for the body are in place.

Coming along nicely!
I may end up doing this kit in the Andy Warhol livery...since you seem to be making the conversion look so effortless!

Just wanted to introduce you to the transkit wheels, I kinda like them:
This is the wheel position in the rear Body with wheels: Comparison between transkit (left) and Revell Wheels:

Progressing along very nicely. Are you going to paint the body with the rear wing attached or have you just mounted it for the photos?

The rear wing will stay on the body, when I paint it. The reason is that I doubt that I will be able to glue the wing onto the body without the wing falling of or looking too attached to the body. So I used putty to make it stay on the body.

Coming along nicely.
I bought the Renaissance transkit also. On the instructions, it said there was an air jack or something. This was missing in mine...did yours come with this piece? If so, can you take a photo of it? Thanks. |

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: BMW M1 "Carte de France" LM 1980 Gr.4 IMSA
Nice project, fancy paint scheme on this one. I have the old Esci POOH Jeans car, missing the rear wing...otherwise it's still complete. Looking every bit horrible as it's about 20 years since I built it using nothing much than what came in the box, brushpaint, tube glue and lack of all things that comes in handy today That "needle" I think is the attachment point for the compressed air hose to raise the inboard airjacks at pit stops. Kind of stupid to call it an air jack, sure it belongs to the system but why not call things by the right terms?

So, here we have a little update. The engine bay is almost finished, I just will add some wires and repaint some parts.
The body is painted and waits for the decals, Iīll post pics of that later. Here are the pics of the engine: Comments welcome!

I made spark plug wiring by drilling small holes into all 6 ends of the distibutor. Then glued small wire and used 3 parts of some bigger heat shrink sleeve (don't know it's the right word?) to imitate the bundling of the wires I recognised on pictures...
