locking hubs
I bought a 2003 Excursion and can't figure out why the hubs won't move there set to auto and won't turn to lock. I tried sprying them with silicone but had no luck. is this a common problem and is it anything to be concerned with because 4wheel drive works on the fly?

Re: locking hubs
You will need to wrench on them to loosen them. I love my Ford trucks but hate the factory hubs and electronic 4x4 system.
The old 99 F150's 4x4 failed at 35,500 miles The 99 F250 failed at 140K miles (no four low) The 00 X works when it wants to unless I go out and lock in the hubs manually. On the F250 I switched the hubs over to Warns, very easy to turn but it's not automatic with the Warns.
