Exclamation Power Sliding Door and Heated Seat Element

I have a 2002 silohouette. The van has been in for service more than I change my underwear. Now it sin the shop for the heated seat elements, which are covered under warranty. It is also in for the drivers rear side sliding door. The dealer tells me that it is not covered b/c the sensors are corroded and the cost is about $300.00. Has anyone else had corroded sensors?

I am discussing this with GM and they are "looking into it" and will see what they can do for me. They said the dealer told them it was from envrionmental conditions. Duh !!

This should be covered under the GMPP. Anyone familiar with coverage/exclusions?

What sensors? I've rebuilt my entire sliding door mechanism and I never found any sensors. All positioning information comes from within the drive unit motor that's located above the wheel well on the INSIDE. On the door there are only the contacts and contact pads on the door post. If those are eaten away so badly the door won't work then $300 is cheap to get them replaced.

Re: Power Sliding Door and Heated Seat Element

My guess is that they are feeding you a line of bull. Clean the contacts yourself and take it back to someone else.

You can also pull the PSD troublecodes yourself (or at least you could on the 98). Press and hold the overhead open button and toggle the lockout button 10 times. The door will then sound for 3.2 seconds, then beep the trouble codes. The codes are 2 digits, so it will beep a time or two, then pause, then beep some other number, then a long pause, then repeat.

For instance, 22 would be <beep><beep><pause><beep><beep><long pause>
<beep><beep><pause><beep><beep><long pause>
etc...

12 is the "all clear" code. To cancel the "beeping", press the lockout button for about 5 seconds.

Post your code here and I can look it up. Also, have you tried reprogramming the door? They have a tendency to get confused from time to time for whatever reason and need to relearn the process.

CDRU,

The sliding door on my 00 silhouette is messed up. When it is opened it will continue to open & close by itself unless we catch and hold the door down. For now we have the door disabled and open/close it manually.

What is the door reprogramming procedure you mentioned??

Thanx in advance...

David

Re: Power Sliding Door and Heated Seat Element

Open door fully
Enable lockout button
Remove radio fuse for 30 seconds
Reinstall radio fuse
Wait 10 seconds
Disable lockout button
Close door via any of the 3 buttons
Open door via any of the 3 buttons
Repete last 2 steps to verify proper door function
