speedometer dead

Has anyone had a problem with the Speedometer going completely dead? Basically it just stopped working. I have not started checking anything, not real sure where to start or to test. thanks

Are any other things off too? Check all your fuses, it could be that simple. If that is not it the gauge itself could be bad. If that is the case you can pick up a complete gauge cluster used for under $100. The miles will vary but you can write them down to keep them correct. The only other thing I think could be wrong is that the speedo sending unit is bad or the driving gear sensor for it is. I do believe it has an electric sending unit rather than a cable driven one. Oh, if none of that works get an electrical diagram for your car then trace the wires to find if one got damaged somewhere.

No the only thing not working is the speedo needle.

Re: speedometer dead

I would just check the sending unit and if that is not working then pull the gauge cluster and replace it.
